Apple has released a critical iOS security update for both iOS versions 6 and 7 covering all iPods, iPads, and iPhones. This update closes a major security hole that could potentially allow bad people to intercept data from your iOS device. Everyone should update their iOS device ASAP to make sure you’re protected. The update could take an hour or so, depending on the speed of internet traffic, so please plan accordingly. On campus, we have confirmed the update takes from between 10 and 15 minutes. The best time we have found to do these updates is in the morning Eastern Time while the West Coast is still asleep.
Be advised that any iOS device that CAN run iOS 7 WILL be updated to the latest version of iOS 7. There is no choice about this. Only very old devices like the iPad 1 that can only run in iOS 6 will remain in iOS 6.
IS&T has posted an advisory about this issue here:

Apple has posted information about how to update your iOS device here:

We have run the updates ourselves on our own devices and confirmed the update appears to work fine.
Please let us know if anyone has any questions.
