Beware of Phishing Attacks

Hi Everyone,

Based on past experience everyone should be on alert for phishing attacks pretending to be official IT correspondences. These are emails composed by bad people trying to steal your private information. We have already been alerted of phishing phone calls from people pretending to be Microsoft asking for user information and credit card numbers under the auspice of trying to make sure your Windows is safe. Understand that these calls and solicitations are frauds and you should never give them anything.

Please remember that no one who actually works in legitimate IT will send you an email and ask for personal information or have you click on a link to submit personal information, credit card numbers, passwords, etc. These are identity thieves and scam artists trying to get a quick score by capitalizing off of a recent event (like the Heartbleed bug and Windows XP no longer being supported by Microsoft, etc).

If you get any email and aren’t sure if it’s legit, always forward the email to us to confirm.  Based on experience, 99% of the time it will be a phishing attack and we’ll advise you to delete the message.

Please feel free to ask any questions about phishing attacks and other creative ways the bad guys try to steal info.

Thanks,
Albert
